Middle of nowhere, AZ
So first off today we said goodbye to Alex, Jeremy, Shawna, Paul, & Debbie, as they went back home to so cal. Then we interviewed pastors at Trinity Mennonite, and Christ Church of the Valley. We got to eat lunch with my old friend from hope volleyball, Justin Gearing & his wife. From there we headed to flagstaff. It got real cold and real windy real quick. So at just about 20 miles east of Flagstaff the winds started getting so bad, that Ryan got blown into another lane. We pulled off first chance we got and set up our tents here in the middle of nowhere. There Is, no joke, a rotting cow leg 20 feet outside our tent. We are going to try and sleep here and hopefully make it to Albuquerque by 5pm tomorrow night.
Only 165 miles down today.

Happy to hear you stopped. Those weather conditions sound awful. Enjoy the peace and quiet of Nowhere! How exciting that the trip has officially begun!

I was afraid you would run into some really cold weather when you got to the higher altitudes. You did the right thing by stopping. Love you, Aunt Nancy

So glad Ryan was not hurt or his bike damaged! We are praying for you guys DAILY. “Don’t worry about tomorrow. God is already there.” (taken from Guideposts magazine submitted by a reader in Franklin, Indiana.)

Heather and I drove up to Flag in the Jeep one time. We had the top down and the difference in temp from Phoenix to Flag was huge. Then about 5 miles from Flag, it started pouring down rain.
Desert weather is crazy. Praying for you guys and hope you’re having fun!

I think you city boys can’t tell the difference between a cow and a deer-cuz that sure looks like a deer leg to me!!!

That must have been one skinny cow! I believe it is a deer or antelope leg-this is the place where they play!

Dude,
This looks like you’re living right out of Bear Grils Man vs. Wild. Cool adventure – but remember, that not KFC outside of your tent!
