We left Lafayette this morning and headed east to New Orleans. The Arceneaux’s took great care of us and it was sad to leave them, but the trip must push on.
Once we got to New Orleans we went exploring. We went to the Garden District and saw a lot of houses that pre date the civil war, and a cemetery that is the same. We then headed to the French quarter which was pretty crazy, people everywhere.
Tomorrow we are going to check out St. Louis cathedral for Easter mass, or I think that is what it is called.
Today’s miles 140 to New Orleans, 2885 total miles traveled.

So we did a lot while we were in Lafayette, and so we thought it deserved some videos.
So attached to this post are a few videos, and they are as follows.
1. The Sonnier Corner house, Egg dyeing, and fighting. Andre took us over to her Aunt’s house. There we had kind of a Martha Stewart moment, where they taught us how to silk dye Easter eggs.
2. After the egg dyieing, we went over to this guy’s house who just opens it up for free pies everyday. It was a big party with lots of people we did not know, but we talked to a lot of them. His house had a lot of interesting art in it, as you will see in the video.
3. This is Ryan attempting to explain the difference between a bayou and a river. I do not think he got it exactly right, but it was a good shot.

This morning Candice came back over, and Andre, Ryan, and I went out for the local tour of the area.
First we went to Andre’s great aunts, Bertha, Louise, and Annette’s, place. They were all very sweet people. Annette showed us around the house filled with WW2 stuff, and a collection of over 1300 different salt & pepper shakers. There we learned how to silk dye eggs for Easter, and how to pacque, which is basically the fighting of two hard boiled eggs. Ryan beat me, so I was not to thrilled about that.
Then we walked down to a guys house named Paul Begnaud, who every Good Friday opens up his home to the community for everyone to come and eat pies. There were well over a 100 pies there, and lots of good Louisiana people. So far the people everywhere have been awesome, but the people here in Lafayette have been the best. Some friendly and easy to talk to.
Afterwards we went to Rookery Road, which runs through a swamp. We were looking for Alligators, and found a few baby ones, but none of the mamas. These are all the photos I have now, but I will post more when I get a longer internet connection.

Ryan and I also both gave Candice (pictured above) a ride on our bikes. She said that my bike was more comfortable, and Ryan’s felt faster. I think she was just trying to be nice to Ryan, since clearly mine is cooler.

Now we are all going to relax and eat pizza.
Enjoy this video from Yesterday:

Today was awesome, so much happened in a short day. So forgive me for being brief this will be more for my own sake of just keepi g record of the day, then for you all.
1. Rode in high winds all the way here. I would say it was scary but by now we are pretty used to it.
2. Andre surprised us at her parents house, kind of, and so we hung out with her and her friends here. They were Angie, Candice, Hamilton, & Amanda.
3. We went to an awesome Cajun food place called prejeans. I ate Alligator, crab, shrimp, oysters, frog legs, and catfish. It was all delicious.
4. We went to the blue moon saloon for some local music, it was a really cool place. It was a house converted into a hostel/ bar/ concert venue.
5. We ended up talking to these two guys from Denmark. They were hilarious, we have some video, that I will add to the site later. These guys were a lot of fun, and they really made me want to go to Denmark someday.
We didn’t get home until 1:30am, it was a great night.
Thanks Andre for the great time.
Miiles today: 185
Total: around 2600

So today we met with Jim Black from Alliance Bible Church in Baytown TX. Jim is a very bright guy, who is very well read. He really seemed to know his communitty, and so it was very interesting to hear about how he has been connecting with those in his area.

Today was pretty much another day to relax. We watched LOST DVD’s, played Foos Ball, and slept till 1pm. At 1 we had an interview arranged with Pastor Jim Black of Alliance Bible Church here in Baytown. Personallly for me I think I am getting more into the swing of interviewing. Y’all can let me know how I’m doing when we load the Podcast. It doesn’t come as easy to me as it does Nathanael, but its all part of the adventure.
Tonight Leno cooked us another amazing dinner and we just got done watching a new episode of LOST, not just a DVD. Tomorrow morning we leave for Lafayette, Louisiana. There are supposed to be Thunderstorms in the south for the next 5 days so our riding could be pretty interesting, we’ll see.

Hey not much to talk about for today. We basically just relaxed and watched some old Lost DVDs. After that we took a walk to where we thought there was a Radio Shack. Once we got to where it was supposed to be, we had the brilliant idea of calling the store. Turns out it had been closed for some time. We probably should have called before we left.
Anyway, we found another Radio Shack, and after much frustrating work, I got my bike completely fixed. It is nice to have a day where we don’t have to go anywhere, and we don’t have to pack up for the day.
Also Leno, who was adopted from Brazil, has been cooking us some amazing meals and entertaining us in the mean time. He is a very funny guy, with lots of cool stories.
