Well today we came from just outside of Flagstaff, all the way to Albuquerque. We stopped by the giant crater on the way, it cost $15 to get in, but it was totally worth it just to defrost for a bit. Last night was a cold and uncomfortable night. When we got to Albuquerque, we were met by some of the members of the local CMA (Christian Motorcycle Association), and one of the members, who goes by Jammed escorted us to his house where his wife made us dinner along with some of the other members of the club. They are all really loving and welcoming people, who truly love Jesus, and they made us feel right at home. Thank you so much guys for the wisdom you shared with us about bikes, about Jesus, and about showing Christ’s love.

Miles today, 312.

Middle of nowhere, AZ

Posted in Pre Trip on March 29th, 2009 at 8:40 pm by Nathanael

So first off today we said goodbye to Alex, Jeremy, Shawna, Paul, & Debbie, as they went back home to so cal. Then we interviewed pastors at Trinity Mennonite, and Christ Church of the Valley. We got to eat lunch with my old friend from hope volleyball, Justin Gearing & his wife. From there we headed to flagstaff. It got real cold and real windy real quick. So at just about 20 miles east of Flagstaff the winds started getting so bad, that Ryan got blown into another lane. We pulled off first chance we got and set up our tents here in the middle of nowhere. There Is, no joke, a rotting cow leg 20 feet outside our tent. We are going to try and sleep here and hopefully make it to Albuquerque by 5pm tomorrow night.

Only 165 miles down today.

Thanks.

Will write more later, but for now just know that we traveled for 9 hours. From Laughlin, to Seligman, to Prescott, to Wickenburg, to Phoenix. Approximately 310 miles.

Laughlin NV

So today we started out with 8 riders as we left Parkcrest in Long Beach. That is including Scott Moore and my brother who followed us on their scooters the whole first mile to the gas station. Then Scott Schlatter and Ryan’s dad followed us to Barstow, but had to head back after that cause they had stuff to do this weekend. Jeremy, Alex, Ryan and I headed to Laughlin on the 40. We took the 66 for a little ways but that road was very run down, so we got back k in the 40 as soon as we could. Shawna, Alex’s wife, met up with us in Laughlin and we all went out to dinner. When we finished dinner a busty drunk woman approached Alex about his American flag leather vest. It got semi confrontational as the lady would not back off of Alex. She was hanging all over him making Shawna very uncomfirtable. Even when Shawna asked her to back down, she ignored her. It was pretty crazy, but we all left without any fights.

Total miles today 298.
