Day 3(Ryan)

Posted in Pre Trip on September 10th, 2008 at 9:49 am by Ryan

It finally hit me.  Riding motorcycles day after day can get real rough.  My back hurts, my butt hurts and I am ready for a down day.  Yesterday I took my bike up to Santa Rosa to visit my friend Dustin and his family.  It was really cold and windy the whole way up.  It was 90 miles up and only took me about an hour and a half to get there.  I saw Dustin’s family had lunch with him and then headed back to Menlo Park to relax for a little while.  By the time I got back to Menlo, I was exhausted!  The Radfords have been amazing, some of the best people that I know!  Today is the first day I have had where I don’t have to do anything!  It feels pretty good.  I will meet back up with Kozmo tomorrow!

Cheers

Ryan

Practice Trip Day 3

Posted in Pre Trip on September 9th, 2008 at 4:57 pm by Nathanael

So Ryan and I split ways today. He went up to Santa Rosa to visit Dustin, and I went up the 5 to Redding to see my grandparents and my uncle Kent and his family. We will meet up again on Thursday at this dumpy campground near Los Banos, that’s right a city named the bathrooms. Anyway I will try to post some videos later but don’t know if I will have Internet for a while, other than on my phone.

Practice Trip Day 2

Ok so we took off from Justin’s house around 8:30am.  It took us a while to find the 1, mainly because we were already on it.  Turns out the 1 just turns into one of the mains streets in downtown SLO.  We went up from there to Morrow Bay, and then up the coast through Big Sur.  It was really pretty up there, but it was really cold and wet too.  My faceshield was covered in water, and my hands were numb.  On top of that we got stuck behind some RVs and slow cars so there were times where we were only going like 20 mph.  Needless to say it took us a little longer to get to the Radford’s here in Menlo Park than we anticipated, but we made it.  Now we are getting ready for an awesome dinner made my Ang, and some Margaritas!

Anyway, here are some videos from today

So we are in SLO, and working on tracking down Justin.  We are currently in a Peet’s coffee shop stealing electricity and internet.  We wanted to upload some pictures from the day, and let you all know we should have a video up by tonight.  So here you go…

Our Official Practice Trip Next Week!

Posted in Pre Trip on September 4th, 2008 at 9:59 am by Nathanael

Ryan and I are heading up the coast next week to see if we really can live off our bikes for a long period of time.  We leave Saturday Night, to go camping with Ron in Malibu somewhere.  Sunday we are going to San Luis Obispo to stay with Justin.  Monday we are stopping at the Radfords in Menlo Park.  Tuesday night we go to my grandparents in Redding, and stay there all day Wednesday.  Thursday we are headed to Yosemite, and Friday we are headed home.  It should be about 1,000 miles in less than a week, so needless to say I am pretty excited.

We will be filming with my new aiptech HD camera and hopefully post blogs and videos along the way.  So be sure to check back next week, so you can keep updated on how we are doing.  We are both pretty confident about the USA motorcycle trip starting in March, but this will be a real eye opener for us to see if we are really able to do this.  So if anything, pray that we love it.

Thanks

We’re Finally Out

Posted in Pre Trip on September 1st, 2008 at 7:55 am by Nathanael

Well it is official, we’re finally all moved out of our old house.  Ryan went to his Mom’s, Ron moved to UCLA, Shane moved back in with his mom, and I moved in with my grandparents.  When we locked up the house last night for the last time it was really quite depressing.  The house looked so big, cause it was so empty.  I just kept thinking that it felt like such a shame to just be giving up on it.  I felt kind of sad about it this morning, and last night, but it is very freeing too.

Also living with my grandparents is pretty cool.  They are fun people to talk to, and Grandma cooks and does my laundry, So that is a pretty awesome situtation right there.  It just sucks cause I can’t help but feeling a little depressed about it all.  I have lived on my own for over 6 years, and now I’m not.  I guess it is kind of humbling to have to ask for help.
