Good Bye Ole’ Blue

So I sold my old bike today. I felt kind of like I was betraying her, but she served her purpose and it was time for her to find a new home. And I think she will be taken care of by her new owner, who ironically is a big black woman, very similar to how I described my new bike.

I was pretty scared for this lady, Claudia, who rode off on her way back to LA today. She learned how to ride on the street in front of my house today, and is riding all the way back to LA! Crazy huh? She didn’t have a permit or anything. I told her that I did not recommend she take the bike back on her own like that, but she said she would be fine, so I just had to let her go. It’s her bike now.

Anyway, I am one step closer to emptying my house of useless crap, and a lot closer to being out of debt. WOO HOO!

New Bike

So I got the bike I want to take on the trip, and it is really starting to sink in that we are actually going to do this thing. I am getting more and more nervous about it, and losing a lot of sleep thinking about it. It is still 10 months away, but I think about it everyday.

I put the side bags on my bike and they are pretty big. It feels like I am going to be able to carry a lot of stuff in them, but we will see. I am riding up to Santa Barbara to go camping with some friends this weekend, so we will see how they work for that.

I am especially getting nervous about money, I mean how in the world are we suppossed to pay for this thing. Everything is just freaking me out about this trip, but I know I am suppossed to do it. I was reading in Genesis when Abraham almost sacrificed his son. They called that place “The Lord Will Provide”, but the lord didn’t do any providing until after he put everything on the table. Once he was willing to give up everything that was most precious to him, thats when God interacted. I am afraid that God is not going to provide for this until after we leave, until after we have put everything on the table. That is a little nerve racking, but none the less, if that is what it takes, then so be it.
